The webcomic is a psychosexual whodunit mystery revolving around kinksters and sex offenders. It's dealing with taboo subjects and sometimes it can get graphic with nudity, fetishes, adult themes and dark developments. It's a trigger-rich story for mature, adult readers only!Elements of this story were inspired by news reports about real crimes. All characters in this story are entirely works of fiction. None of their sexual life was based on mine or any other person's in particular, real or fictional. None of these characters should be viewed as an accurate representation of any group of people they can be associated with, at least not in an exclusive sense of the word. The two main inspirations for the story were Crime and Punishment and the play Equus. It doesn't come near in quality to either of those, but it subscribes to the idea that works shaping our understanding of the psychopathology behind certain harmful behaviors are a lot more beneficial than works that make no effort beyond validating our emotionally-rooted simplistic biases regarding these serious issues.I am not a mental health professional, just a student in Sexology and Sexual Psychology. Exposure was created for entertainment purposes, but through its characters (especially Dr. Celia Whitlock) it aims to promote the importance of mental health awareness and therapy, especially when it comes to the prevention of sexual abuse. That being said the methods of this character are often unethical, irresponsible and harmful. Everyone should have access to humane ways of professional support, because all forms of sexual abuse are devastating, but rape and child sexual abuse are known to traumatize the survivors and affect their loved ones for life.
